Overview

A keeper’s quarters 80 feet above a sea that never sleeps.

For 130 years a keeper climbed these 143 spiral steps at dusk, and now that climb is yours. Beacon Lookout is a decommissioned but fully lit lighthouse on the Outer Banks, with a restored keeper’s quarters at its base. Spend the morning in the little kitchen with sea fog at the window, climb to the lantern room for a 360-degree sweep of the coast, and end the night with the beam sweeping your room every twelve seconds. On stormy nights, this is the most wanted seat in the country.
